We are looking forward to another great year in 2013 hosting the 11th annual Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. We are excited to announce new dates with the race running Jun 21-23rd. This marks a significant change for us moving the event back by nearly 3 weeks from the original first weekend in June time frame. What this means to you is better weather, warmer conditions, and for us no snow plowing!!!
Back by popular demand will be the Three Summits Road Race starting at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort and finishing at Cooper Spur Ski Area. This is a very unique one of a kind course that includes some of the most breathtaking climbs and scenery in the country. Also returning will be the famous Scenic Gorge Time Trial. Hailed as the most brutally beautiful TT in all of North America this course challenges like no other.
Sanctioning has changed from last year. We will no longer be dual sanctioning this event. In order for us to continue to host our very popular pro men’s and women’s races we are required to have the entire event run under USA Cycling. This means all categories this year will require a USA Cycling license to participate in the race. To purchase your annual license you can go to their website at https://www.usacycling.org/buy-a-license.htm and you can either renew your past license or sign up for a new license.
Categories have changed as well from last year. For 2013 we will be combining the CAT 3’s and 4’s together for the men’s race. Masters will now be split into two separate categories that will be determined by skill. Masters will now race either CAT 1-2 (40+) or CAT 3-4 (40+). We have had requests from a number of CAT 2 riders to have their own race. Should we have a total of 50 or more CAT 2 riders sign up by May 1st for the event we will create a separate category and run a separate field. So call all your CAT 2 friends and get signed up!
Once again you can register in two ways for the event. Either online at https://www.usacycling.org/events/?permit=2013-617 or by mailing in your registration form and include a check. You can download the printable pdf form at the link below.
